Loop Geometry

Study the shape of the empty space inside a flourish.

Open loops

Learners compare loops that preserve a generous internal counter with versions that tighten too sharply near the crossing point.

Crossing angle

Two strokes may cross cleanly or appear tangled depending on angle and proximity. Cases isolate the crossing point before the full flourish is written.

Repeated curvature

A flourish often contains related curves. Exercises compare whether those curves feel intentional or whether one has a different tension and radius.

Loop scale

The same loop is tested at several sizes relative to the word. Learners identify the point where the movement starts to dominate the letterforms.
