Method
Purpose, path, collision check, rewrite.
01
Purpose
State why the flourish is being added and what space or direction it should address.
02
Path
Sketch a simple movement that supports the word before adding extra loops or crossings.
03
Collision check
Inspect crossings, tangencies, margins and trapped negative spaces.
04
Rewrite
Write the word again with one deliberate adjustment and compare the overall composition.
Why restraint is part of the method
Flourishing becomes difficult to evaluate when every available space is filled. The platform therefore treats removal as a valid design decision and frequently asks learners to compare a simpler solution with a more elaborate one.
Typical session length
Most activities take approximately 20–40 minutes. The learner can repeat a case later with a different word to test whether the same compositional rule still holds.
